We are based in London but are globally focussed. We come from a technical /research background and are united in our passion to make a difference in the field of education.
Prior to founding feynlabs, Ajit has worked extensively in the mobile data industry researching cross-domain technology trends. His areas of research include: Smart cities, Open systems including ‘White space’ networks, Digital policy and the Mobile web.
In 2009, Ajit was nominated to the World Economic Forum’s ‘Future of the Internet’ council. In 2011, he was nominated to the World Smart Capital program – which is based on Smart cities in Amsterdam. Ajit moderates/chair Oxford University’s Next generation mobile applications panel and conduct courses at Oxford mainly in the next generation Telecoms domain. He has written a number of books which include Open Mobile, Social Media Marketing, Mobile Web 2.0 and Open Gardens.
Since May 2005, he has founded and run the OpenGardens blog which is widely respected in the mobile/telecoms industry. The OpenGardens blog has covered the convergence of Telecoms and the Web and it’s disruptive impact on their value chains. Over the years, his work has been covered in media like the BBC newsnight, CNN Money, BBC Digital planet, Robert Scoble’s podcast and others.
Ajit has spoken at many conferences which include MobileWorld Congress(2013, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2007); CTIA (2011, 2010, 2009, 2008) CEBIT 2009; O Reilly Web20 expo (April 2007);Keynote at Java One; European Parliament – Brussels – (European Internet Foundation); Stanford University’s Digital visions program; MIT Sloan; Fraunhofer FOKUS ; University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and various Informa conferences on Telecoms.
Ajit lives in London, UK and is a British citizen. He was born in India and also has New Zealand nationality. Ajit’s personal ethos leans to being a humanist and a libertarian. Ajit is a fan of animation especially Tom and Jerry, Tintin and Asterix and likes the music of ZZ Top and other rock bands
Tony Fish brings over twenty years of professional delivery capability with leading brands, high growth companies and in venture capital, he has board level executive experience crossing digital, web, telecoms, mobile and TV.
Tony is passionate about technology and has a truly innovative flair. He is known for delivery, clear decision making, simple no-nonsense attitude, robust financial views, dealing with complexity and governance controls.
Tony Fish B-Eng MBA C-ENG FBCS FIET FCIM, is a consummate professional, acknowledged public speaker and avid supporter of early stage growth tech companies. He is also an accomplished author: “My Digital Footprint: a two sided business model where your privacy will be someone else’s business” Nov 2009 and has previously co-authored two books on mobile and innovation: “Mobile Web 2.0: the innovators guide to developing and marketing next generation wireless/mobile applications”, August 2006; and “OpenGardens, the innovators guide to mobile data industry”, December 2004.
Based in Liverpool, Lee Omar first met Ajit on Twitter and then when he was invited to speak at the Apps for Smart cities in Amsterdam. Since then, Lee and Ajit have worked on a number of projects and when feynlabs was created Lee was the first to be a part of the team.
Lee has worked in the community development sector for the last decade. Co Founder of Connected Liverpool, the private company behind the “Its Liverpool Smart City App”. Connected Liverpool has positioned itself to lead the agenda of growing Liverpool to become the UKs first Smart City. Lee is Chair of Smart City Initiative a think tank composed of public and private sector professionals in the health, technology, education, environment, transport, social care, design, architecture, tourism and local government. whose aim to work towards the development of policy, action and best practice to enable Smart Cities within the UK, via a bottom up approach and practical application.
Lee has worked in the mobile technology space for 4 years, he developed a geolocational multiplatform social network in 2009. Currently CEO of Red Ninja Studios, creative technology company that specialise in delivering mobile solutions. Has previously worked with Unilever to deliver cutting edge gesture based technology solutions for their R&D department.
Lee is a thought leader in the social media space having worked in the events and marketing sector for over 11 years, where he developed a social media marketing engine, utilising Facebook for commercial purposes as early 2007 and using earlier social media platforms in 2001 for marketing.
Alex de Carvalho
Alex is passionate about creating spaces for individuals, companies, and brands to connect. Best known as a social media professional, Alex advises organizations on their use of social networks to build brand relationships with key constituents and the community.
He is adept at business strategy, concept design, marketing communication, as well as leading the implementation of complex software development projects with distributed teams. He is also an expert in the use of social media monitoring to establish quantitative and qualitative performance metrics and measurement. Alex is the co-founder of BuzzMed (formerly VoxMed), a worldwide community for physicians, healthcare professionals, and pharmaceutical companies to exchange scientific information and research.
Previously, he directed business development efforts at online media and mobile content companies and co-founded a leading European e-mail marketing provider. Prior to that, while at a major consultancy, he advised blue-chip companies on strategic initiatives. Clients have included Air France, Chevron, General Motors, Corning Saint-Gobain, British Airways, Repsol, Visa, Le Parisien, NRJ Radio, Carat, Sanofi-Aventis, Nortel Networks, and the Finnish Venture Capital Association.
Based in Miami, Florida, Alex has helped unite South Florida’s tech community by organizing The Startup Forum, Social Media Club, BarCamp, Ignite Miami, Social Media Day, and Mobile Monday events for South Florida new media professionals; he is also a founding member of RefreshMiami. Over the past six years, these organizations have hosted events for over 10,000 technology and business professionals, leading to new business connections, employment opportunities, and startup ideas. These forums have introduced entrepreneurs to investors, where technologists have demonstrated new applications that have launched as new startup ventures.
An accomplished public speaker, Alex has spoken nationally and internationally to a variety of audiences from C-Level industry executives to high school students. Alex caters each presentation to the audience’s interests and comprehension level, making sense of the complex, exposing the irrelevant, and debunking the most common misconceptions along the way. His speaking style is energetic, informational, and lively; his slides are visual and evocative.
In addition to his career in consulting, Alex is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami’s School of Communications. He teaches a full-semester course on social media and recently co-authored “Securing The Clicks: Network Security in the Age of Social Media” with MacGraw-Hill. Alex obtained an MBA from Insead in Fontainebleau France, one of the top-rated international business schools in the world. He is fluent in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Finnish.
Dr Tiija Rinta
Originally from Finland but based in London, Tiija and Ajit met as part of Tiija’s NGO work. Tiija Rinta is an educationist, development worker and writer based in London, UK. Tiija completed her doctorate from the Institute of Education in 2008, University of London, on children’s vocal development and the use of singing activities in speech and language therapy with children. Tiija has taught piano, keyboard and accordion privately for 15 years and delivered music classes in early years’ settings.
As a researcher and writer, Tiija has also worked for several international NGOs,Government Agencies and universities. Such work has taken her to various countries (such as Nepal, Kenya Jordan) where she has been able to use her knowledge and skills for the benefit of locals. Most recently Tiija has worked for an EU-funded pan-European project on the usability of music technology for enhancing social inclusion amongst children from immigrant backgrounds. A recent professional visit took Tiija to the Educational Research Academy of the Government of Taiwan where she worked as an expert for local Governmental officials on the Finnish education system and on the role of creative subjects in the curriculum.
The products of Tiija’s work are publications in international professional journals, articles in magazines, book chapters and handbooks for professionals. Tiija has also recently written her debut novel ‘Four Sides to the Core’. Tiija’s latest challenge is a small NGO, Volunteer East (www.volunteereast.org.uk), that recruits volunteers from the UK and sends them on placements in partnership organisations in developing countries, without placement fees.
Xi Sizhe is the youngest member of the team. Originally from Nanchang in China, Xi has a very impressive grasp of all things sensor related. He also shares a passion for education and looks forward to setting up feynlabs China. Currently working on the micro vertical farming project and PhD in Liverpool after completing his masters degree in applied computer science from VUB – Vrije Universiteit Brussels

Aditya is the inspiration behind feynlabs. Aditya loves technology, media and computing. He likes books such as ‘Diary of a wimpy kid’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Horrible histories’. He plays online games like Miscrits , Club Penguin and Moshi Monsters and also watches the BBC iplayer and programs like Dr. Seuss The Lorax, Blue Peter and the Amazing Spider man.
